Is it Possible to Award Medals during VMAs?

The video music award is one of the major musical events in the whole world that is being organized by the Music Television or MTV. People also call this as the VMA. It is regarded as an alternative to the Grammy Awards for the video category, but most people call this as well as the Oscars for the youth then and today. It was first held way back in 1984 in New York City. There are 18 awards that were given during its launching in the Radio City Hall. Today, it is still popular with the token or award being given in the form of an astronaut, which is called as the Moon Man. With the foregoing, is it possible for the organizers of VMA to award medals instead of the Moon Man?

If you are going to ask that question to the people, the prevalent answer would be a big NO. I think that way too. I have said this because of two (2) reasons. These are because it is not a sports event and the Moon Man, which is a trophy, has been its icon. I will explain this further in the following sections hereunder. NO because it is not a sports event! On the one hand, one of the major reasons why MTV cannot just award medals instead during the video music awards is because it is not a sports event. For me, medals are just for sports competition and schools. Aside from that, it would be a little off to wear such medal during the VMA ceremony to the recipient. Giving the trophy is more convenient than wearing it to a person. NO because Moon Man is their icon! On the other hand, I also think that it is quite impossible to award medals during the video music awards because the Moon Man trophy has been its icon. MTV has already built a sense of prestige attached to that icon that can be leveled with the prestigious awarding events like the Grammy’s, Oscar’s and many more. YES for a momentous event! In contrary, I am not closing the possibility of MTV to award medals in the future. This is especially true for extremely special award that can be given to once in a life time event. For instance, it can be given to a special award as the new millennium’s vanguard of music.
